Get him involved in the planning. Materials are everywhere, however don’t count on Home Depot or Ace giving you stuff, they always made me pay for it
Glass is another problem, you will have to go to a glass shop and get it, and be sure you get tempered glass, and I would get at least 1/4 inch to be safe.
The nice thing about your plan, is it can be used to display other things when this idea is over. My wife displays her stones in the one I made, it started as a family memento display case. Civil war badges, letters, etc. she had some going back the the Adams, and a War warrant for 160 acres in what is now down town Chicago for services rendered to the Union during the Civil War. A few other things to, but none were as old as the civil war stuff.
Good luck on your project, you might have to get creative on your motivation…
go get one from Rent-A-Center
give up and go to ikea. you can still have your bf assemble everything!
any home depot or ace hardware will hook you up with the right supplys to make any thing like this.
just tell them what your building and how big and they will give u all the supplys you need
If I were you, I would not count on the pile of materials motivating him. If he is skilled enough to build that kind of project, he can calculate the materials needed and give you a list to go get it. The motivation will have to come from some other method (wink)
