How to build a elliptical pool table?
I am building a elliptical pool table and i need to build one that major axis needs to be between 4 and 8 feet long and minor axis needs to be between 1 and 3 feet long. The two foci should be clearly marked: one will be the hole and the other should be clearly marked. I should have a ball that is proportional to the hole on my table and should fit but should not have a diameter less than 3/4 that of the hole in my table. What materials should i use and how should i start to make it.
The field is easy, Slate can be shaped by grinding.
The rails can be formed in 2 shapes, 4 arcs for the sides and 2 arcs for the ends..
The rail mounts can be shaped from wood, fiberglass or phenolics.
The legs and base are very conventional.
