My uncle had a stroke and he is in a wheel chair, we want to build him a wheel chair ramp. Can anyone point me in right direction.

call your local city hall, ask about senior services or building dept;; someone there should know the stats, perameters for building a ramp;; has to be a certain distance, height & angle to accomodate a wheelchair without your uncle going up or actually down too fast, or falling off, & the angles/corners have to be a certain size so as to turn the w/c when needed;; they will know the answers;; they may even be able to get it done @ a discount or free, depending on your community & your uncles income;; you can also see if the insurance (dependent on medical neccesity) will pay for a temporary ramp (dependent on the length) & you could get one from a medical supply company in your area… Hope it helps!!
Hire a carpenter.
Cutting and fastening skills are a factor. If you’re not doing a good job, the ramp may slope or fail to support the desired amount of weight.
Contact an agency for the disabiled in your town like Easter Seals. The Code requirements are very strict for wheel chair ramps and they very from place to place. It’s basically a deck with a slant to it. There may be state and private money available to build the ramp and the local people will know about it.
