How can I make a simple, VERY SHORT 'coffee table' for the center of my room in front of my my bed?

I want to fill the empty space in the center of my room next to my bed. My bed doesn't lift up. It's just a bed frame on the floor and a mattress on top of it. Thats it. There is no under-bed.
And I want a table in my room. that is short to put things on it when I'm laying in bed. Instead of putting it on the floor. Because when I put stuff on the floor or a drink on the floor, I end up knocking it over while I'm sleeping. Or someone knocks it over by accident. I'm tired of putting things on the floor. So I want a short table. And I can't find any on websites and stuff. I don't want to buy one. I want to learn how to make one. I know nothing of construction. I'm 15. And I think a table is simple to build. An inch thick piece of wood for the top piece, and 4 wood legs nailed down from the top of the table pieces, down into the leg. Right? So someone teach me what I need to build a table and how.

you can buy the legs already spun at lows or home depoit as for the top get a two or three inch slab of wood if you want nice edges get a router after you put it together stain it with the color you like after you stain it try to clear coat it. it is alot cheaper to buy one already made if you are trying to save money the coffee table that i made ended up costing me about eight hundred dollars after i got all the tools

You can find all the stuff you need at the building supply center. Use a 3/4" x 24" x 48" piece of plywood good on one side. Frame the underside with 1" x 4" boards. 2 (8 footers) will do it and cut the pieces to fit. Mitered corners look better. Attach 4 short legs at each corner. They go on with screws. There will be a few styles to choose from. You can finish the table by staining or painting but either way you want to seal the wood pores with a sealer. You also can add trim around the edges to make it look nice. Can you afford to do this? A cheaper way would be to buy a coffee table at a garage sale for about $20 and whack the legs down to where you want them. Good luck!

I think your best bet would be to do to Home Depot or Lowe’s. They both have clinics to teach you.

You never said how large or how tall this table is to be. For something small, short and easy- -

Get a plastic milk crate and a piece of 3/4 plywood 18 inches square. Attach the plywood to the bottom of the crate with screws and washers (center the crate). Finish the plywood any way you want. Small, easy to move, and cheap.

you are on the right track and if i were you i’d buy a four foot long piece of 4×4 post. cut into four equal pieces. then get a piece of 3/4 inch thick sanded one side plywood, maybe a half sheet 4′x4′ and then cut any size width and length you want. there will be leftover for another project. attach the legs as you mentioned. since your bed is low to the ground so should the table be. it’ll probably be wobbly at first but you’ll learn as you go how to firm things up. hope this helps and good luck
