I'm building a work/hobby bench and am looking for some recommendations on what material I should consider that will provide a durable /low maintance top.

Just wondering what your opinion is..
Im 5'10" im pretty sure i got a little more growing to do but im not sure if ill reach 6' maybe 5'11"
is that too short?
Also im 17 and im pretty thin but im pretty muscular, i workout 2 hours a day but not really to build muscle, im a freediver so i train a lot in the pool and i do a lot of stuff that doesnt require heavy weight, for diving i need endurance and agility rather than max strength so i do roughly 400 pushups a day and pull ups and sit ups so im very muscular and you can see every muscle in my body but i dont have large muscles cause i dont body build and bench press and all that...
so are big muscles attractive? i always thought being strong and fit but not swollen was best, also is 5'11" to short?
Thanks
How many feet of lumber do I need to miter cut 4 11x14 frames?
I saw a tutorial on building a table and the guy was putting wood glue on it to hold it together and then immediately using screws to hold it together. What's the point in using the glue if he's using screws?
I am a woodworking hobbyist and I am interested in finding woodworking plans (preferably cheap or free). I have built basic bookcases, a fireplace mantle, and various other projects in the past. I would like to build a cabinet for a sharpening station as one of the things I want to make.
thanks,
Jim
