This spring/summer I'm going to make a Kotatsu. The thing is, I want to do it a little differently and make it round (or octagonal) if possible.
My question is this: Can I do a square base and build on a base to fit the top? If so, how would I go about doing it? I have a few ideas but any advice would be appreciated.
a kotatsu is like a coffee table, but the tabletop is separate because you're supposed to put a futon (blanket-like addition) between it and the base - there is a small heater underneath and the futon keeps the heat in.
Traditionally they're square or rectangular. What I'm asking is how would I best go about making it octagonal.
The best way I thought up is to do the square base and then put an addition on top that would basically frame the tabletop when placed on top. I think that's where you were going with the table top fasteners?
