What is the best brand of cordless power tools?

I've been thinking about buying a set of power tools to use in carpentry applications (Im tired of borrowing my grandfathers). I'm in the process of remodeling my home and need a circular saw, a drill/screwgun and a recipricating saw. I saw the Milwaukee V28 set and it looks like just what I need. My grandfather who is a very experienced carpender tells me Milwaukee is a very good brand. Tell me what you think.....thanx.

How hard it is to build furniture without using power tools?

My brother wants to know. He's interested in trying this out as a hobby and now I'm curious. What types of tools would you need? How difficult would it be? Is it much different than building with power tools?

How can I find a woodworking shop?

I'd like to do some woodworking projects, but unfortunately I live in an apartment (which means that power tools are a bit out of the question). Are there shops that let people come in and use the tools to work on projects? How can I find them? (Yes, I've tried using google...)

My location is Lincoln, Nebraska, if this helps.

      Thanks! :)

Anyone do wood carving? What would be the best tools to use for what I'm wanting to do?

I want to car large and small wooden figures of historical people, cars, robots, spiders and insects, all kinds of things. Wondering what kind of wood I should use, size, and tools. Do you use a knife, chisels and a hammer, or both and other tools?
Also I try avoiding using power tools cause I feel it takes away from the experience and craftsmanship. And some of these I'd like to paint after I finish them. What would be the best paint and technique for painting them?

How to make a small outdoor chair from firewood?

I am a 15 year old girl, and live on a lake house. I would love to build (by myself) a small outdoor chair. The only wood that we have is round, but from a few trees which have been cutdown. They are about 18-20 inches long, and 4-6 inches wide.

I would love to make this to make my own little 'spot' by the water, complete with some flowers. I'm not sure how much wood I have, but any plan would be great. Of course it would be awesome if it isnt too hard, because I AM only 15. I have open-access to power tools and nails, etc.
Just as a note, I did find some plywood (2 shoulder lengths long, 1 shoulder length wide.)

And a few other pieces of loooong lumber.
