Can I lose my gut and build upper body muscle at the same time?

I am a 49 year old male with a 42" waist. (Yes, it protrudes out further than my chest.) I am mostly healthy and active otherwise.

About three weeks ago I decided to conquer this gut thing. Now, I eat mostly all low fat food, (calories from fat less than 30%.) Every morning, I do 70-80 sit-ups on the ab-lounge chair and do 20 minutes on the elliptical machine. (Whew!) I also alternate workouts with heavy weights. Chest, neck, and shoulders one day, arms and legs the next day.

So far I am down 6 or 8 pounds from 180 but, some of my muscles have actually gotten smaller.

Do I need more carbs to feed my muscles or is this just normal? If I increase carbs and protein for muscles, won't that blow my diet?

Confused about sustenance.

Remington 10" Pole Saw Compatibility with 14" or 12" Saw?

My 10" pole saw has cracked and broken and no longer safe to use. I want to replace just the saw but don't see a 10" model. Will the 14" which looks just like it, (in the pictures, haven't seen it in person) with the same 8 Amp motor, work?

I see Sears has a 12" looks the same too...

After doing a little more research I went to Sears and bought the 14" Remington(on sale). The motor and casing are the exact same size. It bolts up perfectly. Works fine and can't be more than 1 pound heavier than the 10"(just 4 extra bar inches and some extra links). So I answered my own question.. Can I get those 10 points?

      Help Building China Cabinet?

I don't have much experience and basic tools but I want to build a quick inexpensive sturdy cabinet to hold all the glassware we got for a wedding gift that is currently stacked in boxes on my dresser.

I have just under 12" of space between side wall and a door-frame in my living room. I plan to make a piece that is about 10" deep by 20" wide by 8 feet tall, from 1x10 pine, basically like a bookshelf (which I did once before), then put on some glass doors on the front.

      I have a few questions:
Can I buy already-made glass doors? Does Home Depot have them? Do they come in standard sizes?
Do I have to buy hinges separately? What's the best kind?
What should I use as backing for the cabinet?

      Many thanks...
I was going to do adjustable shelves, but was thinking of having one fixed shelf maybe half-way up to make the unit sturdier.

I'm wondering if I can get started on the cabinet now and worry about the doors later, or do I have to take available (standard) door sizes into account when designing the cabinet?

Russian Tortoise, Tortoise Table, How big?!?!?!?

Ok I have a male russian tortoise now in a rubbermaid tub. I am getting a female russian tortoise and need to build a tortoise table so they have more room. What is the min. size that a male and female tortoise can stay together, so the female has room to get away from the female, all the website I have been to only tell me the min. size to keep ONE russian tortoise, not only do I need to know the min size for 2 to stay together, but there is a boy and girl, which I hear since the female "needs her space" in a way you need to make it a little better? Anybody out there have a russsian tortoise and can help me out?

What is the average height of a farmhouse apron sink in a kitchen?

To sum it up...the existing plumbed area, for the kitchen sink, is below a window. I am afraid it is not tall enough for average size cabinets. My idea for a solution to this problem, rather than change the window, is to custom build a cabinet for a farmhouse sink. Got any other ideas? The area is only 32" in heighth before the window frame. Or....do I have big problems?
