where can I buy a nice wood pedestal for a table I'm building?

I'm building a round coffee and instead of legs I just want a thick round pedestal instead. Anyone know where I can find a decent looking one?

(I like the antique and traditional looks, I don't like the straight smooth or modern styles)

thanks in advance!

Varnish or paint in wooden cabinet?

I'm having my room repaired and also a wooden cabinet will be built on. I'm quite concerned about my cabinet. Should I have it varnished or painted? Will the odor of varnish or paint go away when it's dry? Some people say that I should let it air dry for a couple of days but i don't know if the smell will be really gone. I don't want to have my room or my clothes smell like it. I'd really appreciate any helpful response to this. Thanks in advance.

How can I build my own murphy bed or wall bed?

One company charges you 0 for the "mechanism" (which is just the hinges, some tailgate hydraulics, and latches) and the plans, and you still have to buy the lumber and build the cabinet.

I looked online and a completed murphy or wall bed costs upward of 00 which I don't want to spend at all, especially considering my situation is only temporary.

There were plans for and I was hoping they showed how to build my own mechanism, but all they said was something like "for the next step, go buy a murphy bed mechanism from this company and install it in the cabinet which you just built".

I was hoping to do something cheap like just build a box for the mattress and build a frame that it fits in, bolt hinges to the box and mount it in the frame, add some hydraulics (like the kind that hold up the hood of the car or the tailgate of the truck, not the kind that make lowrider cars bounce) inside of the frame like I have seen in some wall bed plans, screw the frame to the wall, strap the mattress inside of the box, and there you go. Without caring what it looks like as long as it works.

It is just a twin mattress.

      Anyway thanks in advance.

Where can you buy natural (round) cedar or red cedar in the buffalo area?

I am building a table for the patio for my mother and I would like to go with the natural look. Like the trees just got cut down and the bark shaven off and that is it (other than the circular top which will have the round wood cut in half to make a flat top). Does anyone know where I can buy this type of wood in the buffalo area?

        Thanks in advance!

If you cover softwood with fiberglass, could the wood still warp? Assuming that you cover one side of the wood?

Hey there, I'm trying to build a pool table and am trying to figure out what wood to use to build it. I definitely do not want it to change shape or size, so I was thinking of covering the outside of the table, not the whole table, with fiberglass cloth. If I do this, does this ensure that the table does not warp? Also, if I want to build the table so that it doesn't warp or change shape or size, what should i do?

          Thanks in advance.
