What are the muscles under your arm pits , to the side of your chest called ?

What are they called and how do you build them up ?

Bench presses ?

Incline or Flat ?

My brother wants to know , he has a Flat,Incline,Decline bench. He uses a curl and barbell with weights.

He says he notices the front of his chest and upper arms , but not the muslces to the side of the chest under the arm pits.

He wants his chest to be wider , I guess.

how to build strength by weight benching?

I have heard that doing 4-6 sets of 10 reps is a good method to increase the amount of weight one can bench press...my QUESTION IS...do these 4-6 reps need to be done continuous or can one do the reps through out the day and still receive the same amount of benefit needed to build strength to life heavier weights?
